On Saturday, May 30th, 17 talented, intelligent and beautiful young women shared their cultural heritage, passions for service and individual talents at Teikyo Loretto Heights University Theater. Together, these women embarked on a 3-month journey of bonding, personal growth, leadership development and giving back to the community. On the night of the event, the theater filled with 700+ attendees from all ages and backgrounds. The diverse crowd was a reflection of the true diversity that makes up the state of Colorado.

The leadership and personal development program provides Asian American women an opportunity to strengthen their confidence and voice, develop networks and friendships, and ultimately, further career endeavors through service events, public speaking, networking with professionals, leadership training, interviews, and on-stage presentations. These Asian American women receive an invaluable experience that guides them to become future leaders and role models for Colorado's Asian community and younger generations.
These Colorado women are given the opportunity to shine in their individuality as we challenge conventional notions of beauty, culture, and intelligence. Beauty and intelligence that radiates from within, make these Asian American women future leaders in Colorado's growing Asian community. The program places an emphasis on the areas of leadership, service, academics, and individuality.
The Miss AACO program began last year in hopes of revealing the rich beauty of Asian American culture and history. It also gives mainstream society a more complete picture of Asian American cultural achievement and talent, as it bridges the schisms found among the various cultures represented as Asian American Pacific Islanders.
Miss Asian American Colorado exemplifies what every woman should be: empowered, intelligent, and compassionate. We hope to see you at our 2009 event!
